When you are applying for government benefits it is very important that you do not commingle funds that belong to the applicant with another person’s money. The applicant should pay for as much of their living expenses as they can from their own account and directly to the creditor. If a bill cannot be paid-in-full from the applicant’s funds and someone else is planning to pay the difference they should always pay directly to the creditor. They should not give funds to the applicant.
While in the application process please make sure you do not put monies into the applicant’s account or take money out of it for anything other than paying the applicant’s bills. Money going into their account is considered income and money going out is considered a gift unless it is to pay one of their own bills.
